Causative Agent : Aeromonas hydrophila

Diagnostic Method : Positive bacteriologic culture of affected organs or lesions Gram negative rod shaped bacteria

Symptoms

  • Haemorrhagic and ulcerative lesions on skin fins, head, exopthalmia
  • Fin rot (eroding fins)
  • Belly distended containing fluid, liver and kidney enlarged
  • Sloughing scale
  • Dropsy or sudden death

Host (Common sp.)

  • Gourami(Kissing gourami fry, gaint gourami)
  • livebeares
  • Barbs (cuming barbs and cherry barbs)
  • Zebra fish
  • Fighter fish
  • Cichlids
  • Tetra (super serpae)
  • Koi and Goldfish

Treatment Method

  • Oxytetracycline ( 3-4 gm/100L for 2-3 days)
  • Oxolinic acid: 10 mg/kg of fish/day for 10 days.
  • Furazolidone (long bath, 0.5-1g/100L for 2 days)
