Causative Agent : Vibrio vulnificus

Diagnostic Method : Gram staining - Gram negative curved rods

Symptoms

  • Erratic swimming / Sluggish movement
  • Haemorrhages on the fin base
  • Red spots found on the ventral and lateral areas
  • Increase mucus secretion covering body
  • Loss of appetite
  • Detachment scales
  • Lethargic

Host (Common sp.)

  • Cherry barb
  • Livebeares
  • Cichlids
  • Tetra (super serpae)

Treatment Method

  • Neomycin
  • Sulphamerazine: 12gm/100lb of fish/day for three days
  • Oxytetracycline: 3-5gm/100lb of fish/day for 10 days.
  • Furazolidone in feed: 100mg/kg/fish/6days.
  • Erythromycin
