Causative Agent : Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas spp., Cytophaga spp., Haemophilus

Diagnostic Method : Wet mount examination

Symptoms

  • Erosions, discoloration and disintegration of fins and tails /fins and tail appear to melt away or discolor
  • Beginning with white margin of fins
  • Blood on edge of fins,skin ulcers with grey or red margins
  • Erratic swimming
  • Loss of apetite
  • Lethargic
  • Fish may sitting at the bottom ot the tank
  • Cloudy eyes

Host (Common sp.)

  • Cichlids
  • Fighter fish
  • Livebearer fish
  • Gourami fish
  • Goldfish
  • Koi carp

Treatment Method

  • Tetracycline (Dose: 3-4 gm/100 l for 2-3 days and Water change after treatment)
  • Erythromycine
  • Acriflavine
  • Mild ‘dip treatment’ with KMnO4 (0.002%)
  • Syphon the gravel at the bottom of the aquarium to remove any waste and debris. 25% water change of fish tank
  • Chloromycetin 40 mg in 5 L of water
  • Add 1 tsp per gallon of aquarium salt to the water
  • Mild ‘dip treatment’ with copper sulphate (0.05 %)
