Disease Name : Trichodiniasis

Causative Agent : Trichodina sp.

Diagnostic Method : Wet mount under a light microscope( Disc shaped, spherical cysts can be observed in whitish material under microscope)

Symptoms

  • Whitish cysts observed on skin, fins and gills.
  • Fins become frayed
  • Respiratory stress ,rapid breathing
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of scales
  • Scratching and flashing
  • Fish may isolate themselves, lay at the bottom with clamped fins
  • Ulcers, irritated skin

  • Gourami
  • Cichlids (angel)
  • Fighter fish
  • Barbs
  • Tetras
  • Koi carps
  • Liveberares
  • Gold fish

Treatment Method

  • Potassium Permanganate - at 1.5 ppm
  • Salt Dip - at 3% for emergency short term treatment
