Causative Agent : Argulus foliaceus

Diagnostic Method : Naked eye / Wet mount of the affected tissue

Symptoms

  • Rub up against objects in the aquarium in an attempt to remove them
  • Swim erratically
  • Skin lesions with secondary bacterial infections
  • Haemorrhagic spots and ulcers
  • Lethargic
  • Loss of appetite
  • Secretion of mucus, erode scales

Host (Common sp.)

  • Goldfish
  • Catfish
  • Livebearer
  • Cichlids
  • Koicarp

Treatment Method

  • physically removed using tweezers
  • Dimilin 0.01 mg/lt - bath treatmnets
  • Potassium permanganate - Dip treatment
