Details of the varieties

This is a larger tetra species growing sometimes up-to 8cm. (if kept in good water conditions, they can live 3-5 years or more Aires tetra feeds on worms, insects, crustaceans and plants. Spawning happens among plants and eggs hatch generally in 20 to 24 hours (Mills et al., 1997). This is one of the hardiest tropical fish for the home aquarium. In aquarium groups of individuals can be kept in 80 cm of minimum aquarium size.
